A little about me!
Michael Powell
Bladesmith
I consider myself a hobby knife maker. I started making knives in 2017 after watching Forged in Fire on History channel. I fell in love with the craft. I practiced mornings before work, at night after work, and weekends for about three years before signing up to go on the show.
Forged in Fire
Champion
I made it on Season 8 episode 10 The Spetsnaz Shovel episode. Overall, it was an amazing experience. Winning got me really excited about continuing my knife making journey. It also made me realize that I had a very long way to go when it comes to learning about knife making.
Custom Knife Making
After Forged in Fire I started taking custom orders. People were asking for all different types of knives that I had no experience making. I realized I need to learn more about how to make custom knives. So, I started researching and taking classes from masters.
American Bladesmith Society
Aprentice Smith
I joined the American Bladesmith Society as an apprentice smith. I started following Mastersmith makers on social media. Then I took my first class with Mastersmith Steve Schwarzer. Steve introduced me into the world of knife making. Opened my eyes to the history of custom knife making, the knife making community that is out there.
