I’m Michael Powell, a bladesmith in Hastings, Florida, and a Forged in Fire champion. I began making knives in 2017 after watching the show and discovering a passion for the craft.
I spent mornings, evenings, and weekends developing my skills before competing. Today, I make handcrafted knives and take custom orders, continuing to learn and refine my work with every blade.

I won Season 8, Episode 10 of Forged in Fire, “The Spetsnaz Shovel.” Competing was an unforgettable experience that challenged my skills and deepened my commitment to knifemaking.
Since then, I’ve continued developing my craft through practice, research, and classes with experienced bladesmiths.

Apprentice Smith
I joined the American Bladesmith Society as an apprentice smith and have continued learning through research and classes, including a class with Master Smith Steve Schwarzer.
That experience broadened my understanding of custom knifemaking, its history, and the community of makers who continue to advance the craft.
